Team Heptagon from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China is making their second appearance in the SCC. The team name represents the seven members who together form a whole unit. Team Heptagon is banking on the experience of current and past members in student cluster competitions at SC, ISC, ASC in China and RDMA. The team also brings a diverse academic portfolio to the event, with students studying math, electronics engineering, communication engineering, software engineering and computer science.
The team will travel about 35 hours en route from China to Utah and take three different flights, which should give them plenty of time to indulge in a favorite pastime – playing card games. Anyone for Uno? At school, the team often plays using the Uno bot in an IM group chat. And likely to be playing in the earbuds will be “Still Alive” as performed by GLaDOS in the Portal games. But it won’t be all fun and games for Heptagon as they hope to gain advice and guidance from computer professionals as they compete at SC16.
