Qiang Du
Biography
Qiang Du has been the Fu Foundation Professor of Applied Mathematics at Columbia University and a faculty of Data Science Institute since 2014. Before that he was the Verne M. Willaman Professor of Mathematics and a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. He received a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988. He is a SIAM Fellow, a recipient of Feng Kang prize in Scientific Computing and SIAM Outstanding Paper prize. He currently chairs the SIAM Activity Group on Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science. He has authored over 250 publications in applied mathematics and scientific computing.
