The SC16 conference continues its mission to build a strong and diverse HPC student community at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, through professional development programs, opportunities to learn from mentors, and engagement with SC’s technical sessions. By encouraging a strong student community centered around HPC, the SC16 Students@SC program helps ease the transition into the broader professional community. Activities at SC16 will include:
- Student Cluster Competition
Educational institutions are invited to form teams of undergraduates or high school students and sign up to compete in this high-energy event. The Student Cluster Competition features young supercomputing talent from around the world competing to build, operate and tune powerful cluster computers. - Student Volunteers
All undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply as student volunteers to help support putting on the conference. In addition to being part of the conference team, students are can participate in activities like professional development workshops and technical talks by well-known researchers and industry leaders. - Student Participation in the Technical Program
The ACM Student Poster Competition and Doctoral Showcase tracks are oriented specifically toward students. - Student Awards
SC16 is proud to honor outstanding students who are recipients of ACM/IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowships or ACM SIGHPC / Intel Computational & Data Science Fellowships. ACM Student Research Competition winners will also be recognized at SC16. - Mentor-Protégé Program
Students are encouraged to participate in the Mentor-Protégé Program to meet and talk with more veteran conference participants who can provide even more details on the conference’s in and outs, as well as give career advice. - Student/Postdoc Job Fair
