DescriptionParallelism has become essential in achieving the high compute performance that is necessary in solving many problems in science and engineering. At the same time, parallel programming is considered so difficult that many say that there is a crisis in parallel programming. This talk will not discuss a solution to this problem; rather, it will discuss how the issues are described and make some recommendations for mentoring students and researchers in how to think about the problem of and potential solutions in parallel computing.
