Alexandru Costan

Biography
Alexandru Costan is an Associate Professor at INSA Rennes and a researcher at Inria/IRISA. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2011 from the University Politehnica of Bucharest (Romania) for a thesis focusing on self-adaptive behavior of large-scale distributed systems based on monitoring information, being one of the main contributors to the MonALISA monitoring system. His research interests include Big Data management in HPC and clouds, fast data and event streaming, autonomic behavior and workflow management. He is works on efficient storage for converged HPC and Big Data environments in the framework of the Microsoft Research - Inria Joint Centre. He has published one book, more than 10 journal articles (including CACM) and 30 papers in international conferences (including SC, CCGrid, Cluster). He serves as a PC member of several conferences, and since 2011 he has been the co-chair of the BigDataCloud workshop at EuroPar and the ScienceCloud workshop at HPDC.
