Damian Rouson

Biography
Damian Rouson is a mechanical engineer experienced in developing software for classical, quantum, and magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and multiphase flow. He co-authored the textbook Scientific Software Design: The Object-Oriented Way (Cambridge University Press, 2011) and has taught related university and short courses throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has led or co-led research funded by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology and has held visiting and tenure-track appointments at universities in the U.S. and in Europe. He holds a B.M.E. from Howard University and a M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University, all in mechanical engineering. In 2013, he entered Sandia National Laboratory's Entrepreneurial Separation to Transfer Technology program to launch Sourcery, Inc., a software consultancy founded by and for computational scientists. In 2015, he founded the California nonprofit corporation Sourcery Institute organized to conduct computational science research and education.
