Franck Cappello

Biography
Franck Cappello is senior computer scientist at ANL. He has long experience in HPC and distributed systems. He has also a rich experience in building and leading communities around large projects. He initiated and directed the Grid'5000 infrastructure gathering nine distributed computing centers and hundreds of researchers. He led the G8 "Enabling Climate Simulation at Extreme Scale" project gathering six institutions from five countries. He currently focuses on finding solutions for extreme scale scientific data storage and analytics. In this context, he leads the SC16 experiment on on-demand infrastructure for scientific data analytics and storage with 25 experts from three institutions. Franck is the director of the UIUC/NCSA-Inria-ANL-BSC-JSC-Riken joint laboratory on extreme scale computing with 160+ researchers from five countries. He will leverage his experience in building communities for this BOF to help developing a community of researchers and practitioners interested in "on-demand infrastructures for scientific data analytics and storage".
