George Markomanolis

Biography
George S. Markomanolis is Computational Scientist at KAUST Supercomputing Laboratory. His research is on performance evaluation and optimization of applications with a main focus on weather models and supporting the users of supercomputers. He is interested in working with advanced programming models and porting parallel applications on various architectures. Before joining KAUST, he was senior engineer at Barcelona Supercomputing Center and his role was to profile and port an atmospheric model to OmpSs task-based programming model. He obtained his B.S. from the department of mathematics, University of Ioannina, Greece in 2005, his M.S. in Computational Science from the department of Informatics and Telecommunication, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece in 2008, and his Ph.D. from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France in 2014.
