Martin Gasthuber
Biography
Martin Gasthuber is working at DESY since 1992 within the scientific computing group in the area of special networks, cold and hot storage supporting local experiments (particle physics and photon science) and the worldwide LHC computing grid. Lastly, the design, setup and operation of a new storage and computing infrastructure for the active photon science (physics with x-rays of ultimate energy and brilliance) experiments on the two active accelerators on site and the planning for the third (EUXFEL) linear accelerator, planned to start operation in 2017. The majority of selected technologies for these systems are 'grabbed' from HPC, although, at the end, its used for data intensive science - (H)igh (T)roughput (C)omputing. This work has been accomplished with a small group of local experts from the IT group and experiment control groups.
