Biography
Paul Sathre is a post-M.S. research associate in the Synergy Lab at Virginia Tech. His core research interests lie at the intersection of accelerating scientific discovery, mapping domain science applications to emerging massively parallel multi- and many-core architectures, open-standard parallel compute languages and runtime systems, and free and open-source software development. In particular, his background has been centered on the use of graphics processing units (GPUs) via the Open Compute Language (OpenCL) to accelerate simulations in domains such as bioinformatics, cosmology, neutron transport, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Additionally, he has an avid interest in the LLVM and Clang ecosystem of compiler tools as robust and scalable bases from which to develop the next generation of parallel computing languages and tools.
