Sharon McGrayne

Biography
Sharon Bertsch McGrayne is the author of several books about the history of science and scientific discoveries. Her last book was a history of Bayesian probability, The Theory That Would Not Die: How Bayes’ Rule Cracked the Enigma Code, Hunted Down Russian Submarines and Emerged Triumphant from Two Centuries of Controversy. It is published by Yale University Press. Her first book, Nobel Prize Women in Science, biographies of 15 leading women scientists up to about 1975, is published by National Academy of Sciences Press. She is currently working on a book about women in science today with Dr. Rita Colwell, former director of the National Science Foundation, entrepreneur, and Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland and at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
