Sorin Cheran is a Technology Strategist in Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Lyon, France. He works on the proposal, performance, characterization of HPE's large-scale HPC deployments for key customers. He is also involved in technology proof-of-concept demonstrations with HPE R&D teams and external partners to advance the state-of-the art. He has co-authored over fifteen technical papers, numerous internal technical reports on computer vision, 3-D modeling, image processing, 3-D object reconstruction and segmentation, artificial life, biological models, high performance computing, clustering, and parallel programming. Dr Sorin received a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Siegen and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Informatics from the "Univerita degli Studi di Torino", with a thesis on "Artificial life models in 3D - Virtual Ant Colonies based reconstruction of the bronchial and vascular tree in lung computed tomography." Between 2004 and 2007 Sorin has been a research fellow associated with the National Institute of Nuclear Research from Italy and to the European Center of Nuclear Research (CERN) from Switzerland.
