Stephane Eranian

Biography
Stephane Eranian received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University Denis Diderot (Paris VII), France in 1995. He started his career as a Research Scientist at HP Labs in Palo Alto, CA where he worked on various Operating System technologies and in particular the port of Linux to the Intel Itanium processor architecture. He co-authored the book "IA64-Linux kernel: Design and Implementation" in 2001. His research interest then focused on Hardware-Based Performance Monitoring first on Itanium and then other processors. He joined Google in 2008 where he is responsible for the Performance Monitoring infrastructure in the Linux kernel and related tools for production data centers. He has been an active participant in Linux Performance Monitoring effort for many years and has many contributions to the perf_events subsystem in upstream Linux kernel. His work on the Intel Performance Monitoring support has been recognized by several honorary awards by Intel and Google.
