Thomas Barr
Biography
Tom Barr directs the Biomedical Imaging Team (BIT) at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. The BIT is a cross-functional team of clinical, technical and informatics staff that delivers and supports a portfolio of projects related to digital pathology in cancer. The BIT actively supports local, national and international cancer clinical trials. The BIT provides virtual microscopy images for the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) program as well as to support clinical trials for the Children's Oncology Group and Gynecologic Oncology Group. Tom has attended the SC Conference on five occasions as he is interested in utilizing HPC for the automatic detection and measurement of significant cancerous features.
Tom has a bachelor's degree in computer information systems, an associate's degree in medical laboratory technology, and is EpicCare Ambulatory certified.
