Vijay K. Agarwala
Biography
Vijay K. Agarwala servers as Director of High Performance Computing (HPC) at Advanced Research Computing (ARC), a unit of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Agarwala provides technical and strategic leadership for the group’s advanced computing infrastructure. Agarwala came to Virginia Tech with more than 28 years of experience in high performance computing, data sciences, and research computing. In 1987, he was a founding member of the HPC group at Penn State. For nearly 10 years until 2014, Agarwala served as Senior Director of the Research Computing and Cyberinfrastructure group and a member of the University Research Council and Information Technology Leadership Team at Penn State. More recently, he served as Senior Director of Research Computing at the New York Genome Center. At Virginia Tech, Agarwala is a passionate advocate for use of advanced computing resources in teaching and research across as many disciplines as possible, including social sciences and humanities.
