SC16 announced the preliminary results from its recent Technical Program committee meeting in Houston, Texas. During the meeting, 442 paper submissions were reviewed in nine different focus areas. Out of these papers, 81 (18.32% acceptance rate) were accepted for presentation at SC16 (10 with shepherds).
The Program Committee also nominated seven papers for the Best Paper award [one of these is also a Gordon Bell finalist] and seven for the Best Student Paper award. In addition, 37 tutorials were accepted out of a total of 72 submissions and 36 workshops were accepted out of a total of 55 submissions. Plus, attendees can look forward to 13 panels from a total of 31 submissions.
“Attendees will find the quality of content to be very high,” said Lori Diachin, Technical Program Chair from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. “The caliber of the submissions made this extremely difficult on the entire committee. I would like to thank all committee volunteers and authors for making such herculean efforts. And please don’t forget opportunities still remain to submit your work.”
Programs still open to submissions include Research Posters, Birds of a Feather, Showcases (Doctoral Showcase, Emerging Technologies Showcase, Scientific Visualization Showcase, and HPC Impact Showcase), and the ACM Student Research Competition. Details for those deadlines are available here.
The final list of accepted papers will be posted on the website in a few days. The nine technical paper focus areas are algorithms, applications, arch & networks, clouds & distributed computing, DAVS, performance, programming systems, state of the practice and systems software.
